Almost 20% of men with azoospermia have a microdeletion in one or several areas of the long arm of the Y chromosome in the AZF region, especially in the DAZ family genes.
The Y-chromosome microdeletions test involves using molecular biology techniques to study the presence of mutations in different areas of the AZF region, including in the DAZ genes.
