Almost 20% of men with azoospermia have a microdeletion in one or several areas of the long arm of the Y chromosome in the AZF region, especially in the DAZ family genes.
The Y-chromosome microdeletions test involves using molecular biology techniques to study the presence of mutations in different areas of the AZF region, including in the DAZ genes.
STEP-BY-STEP
How does it work?
1.
Get in touch with us or your doctor.
2.
We carry out genetic counselling and get your informed consent for the test.
3.
Blood is drawn at one of our centers.
4.
Our team will contact you or your doctor to discuss the results.
Studying microdeletions in the Y chromosome allows us to determine if the azoospermia is of the obstructive or non-obstructive type and helps us to make the decision about whether to perform a surgical treatment to recover spermatozoa.
