This technique is intended for couples who are carriers of balanced chromosomal alterations, for example, a chromosome translocation or inversion.
The chances of pregnancy are decreased in these couples because of the increased possibility that their gametes will carry an unbalanced chromosomal alteration which will give rise to altered embryos (whose chances of implantation are practically nil) or viable embryos and foetuses with partial aneuploidies. In this test, the complete chromosomal endowment of the embryo is studied and chromosomally balanced embryos are selected.
Step-by-Step
How does it work?
1.
Ask your Reproduction Unit about this test.
2.
We carry out genetic counselling and get your informed consent for the test.
3.
An IVF cycle and embryo biopsy is carried out.
4.
The reproduction team will explain the results of the test to you and will plan the transfer of healthy embryos.
Who is it for?
When is it recommended?

Results
This technique allows us to examine the chromosome load of embryos created by IVF to determine which embryos have a normal chromosome load and thereby avoid transferring embryos that have inherited the parental chromosome alteration in an unbalanced way.
